My first swap

I edited my last post. If you didn't read the edited post, go ahead and "scroll on down!" (said in my best Price Is Right voice)

So, I'm in my very first card swap. There are about 20 people in this swap. We are making Owl Cards! Since I have the "Owl Always Love You" stamp set from Gina K. Designs, I decided to participate. The way it works is this: I make multiples of a card then send them in to the leader of the swap. The leader collects all the cards from all the participants and divides them up. Then I will get a bunch of different owl cards back! Since I'm sending in 5 + 1, I should get 5 back (the one is for the leader of the swap). I made these cards and hope they will be worthy of the swap. Since I've never done this before, I don't know if my cards are good enough. I feel like they need something more. What do you think?

Yes, you counted right. I made 7 cards. I wanted to keep one of course! LOL! And no, they aren't all the same. I needed to change some of them up with the different owl images because the Owl guarding the eggs felt left out... I told you I was a dork, didn't I? Have a great night all. Busy busy bee...

Yep, that's me. Kinda like these guys: Lol! Yeah, I'm a dork. Actually I'm so busy that I've got to run out the door and don't have time to finish this post, so I'll be editing this later... For now, enjoy these two cute boxing bee stamps that I've won from Hambo Stamps, and these two wonderful RAKs that I've gotten this week.

ETA: Hi! I'm back! Sorry for ditching the post like that. I got a call from my Mom to meet her before my oldest son's baseball practice, and had to run out the door to get there in time. Sooooo, I won the two boxing bee stamps from Hambo Stamps. They have a blog game called Acronitions and I've won it twice, hence gotten 2 wonderful stamps from them! You should go check out their blog. If word games are something you enjoy, you'll love acronitions.

More SOA Challenges!

It's hard to believe, but I've actually gotten crafty this week AND been babysitting! Yup, that's me, Miss Multitasker. "The more I have to do, the better." LOL! Well, here are a couple more SOA (Stamping Out Alzheimer's; check out the details HERE) challenges: This is SOA #7. I was a little worried about doing a 2 page scrapbook layout, so I decided to stick with the 8x8 size page, and make a couple more pages for Angel Baby's Book. I hope you can click on it to get a closer look. Those are some of my favorite pics of Angel!

This one is SOA #4. I honestly don't like the combo of colors on this one. I failed myself when putting this together. I just kept going, thinking it would "come together in the end" but it didn't! I like the sketch though, so I'm going to have to give it another shot with different papers and colors. And No, my Mom will not be getting this card.

Also, I did this card: This card is not an SOA challenge entry, it is this weekend's sketch from Lauren Meader. When I saw this sketch posted on her blog, I immediately got inspired and had to try out my idea. So, Yes, my Mom will be getting this card for Mother's Day. And No, she won't see it before then because she NEVER reads my blog. (Unless I show her something on it) Lauren did 2 absolutely beautiful cards with her sketch and they are both very different takes on the same layout! Plus, I turned the card long-ways even though her sketch has it being a tall card. Go check it out HERE and give it a try. It's a great sketch!

Stamp Out Alzheimers Challenges

Hi all! So, I was blog hopping the other day and I heard about this really cool virtual crop. For a small donation I entered this virtual crop to help Stamp Out Alzheimers. My Grandpa Louie had Alzheimers before he passed about, and that was just a couple years ago. The way it took away his personality, it was horrible. He was no longer himself. Any little thing I can do to help get one step closer to a cure, I'll do it. And this Crop is something I can do! So, here are 4 of the challenges that I have completed so far. This first card is SOA1:

This challenge was to make a Boy's Birthday Card with the Number being the focal point. I wrote the sentiment in myself (obviously) because I didn't have a stamp to say what I wanted to say. Next is SOA2:This challenge was a scrapbook sketch. It was a simple sketch (which I love) so I was able to keep the focus on the picture. This picture was taken when Angel Baby was just a day old and big brother Andrew came to the NICU to visit her. I love that you can see how small her little hand is compared to her brothers. I used a neat little embellishment on the page too. It's an acrylic frame with the words "heaven sent" on it. The "love" is a pink sticker that I've had for a long time. Next up is SOA3: I used one of my favorite stamp sets on this one. This was an inspiration challenge. The colors and layout were inspired by the inspiration picture. There will be more details on my SCS gallery. And finally, SOA11:This challenge was to make a nifty notebook. I changed the size of the notebook to fit a square pad of sticky notes. Since this notebook was requested by my 4 year old, I used this boxing bee stamp from Hambo Stamps because it reminds me of him! Well, that's all for this post. I'm wiped! Anyone have that song stuck in their head now? LOL! Sorry. I really, really want to update this blog more often but it just seems that time slips away.

So, First I want to say THANK YOU to Jen! She sent me this wonderful card and birdie stamp last week to let me know she was thinking of me during my surgery and recovery. THANKS JEN!!! And, since I love this stamp and have been eyeing it for a while now, I got it inky and made this:

I won't bore you with all the card details, but if you're interested they will be listed with the card in my SCS gallery. The link's on the side panel. On Saturday Andrew had his first baseball game of the season. Here he is on first getting ready to run! That was a fun day. On Sunday we got to our Portrait sitting. We got a lot of cute pics taken that day. Here's one that we didn't order: It's me and my kiddos, looking all goofy, but we needed to have 12 shots taken and since we already got our "money shot" we just let her snap this one of us in our regular clothes. I guess our personalities show through better this way! LOL! Angel Baby's headband is strategically placed over a mosquito bite (luckily she doesn't look this goofy in all the pics). And finally, I got my Hip Hop Accessories stamp set inky and made a card for Andrew from his baby sister, just because: I think he'll like it; he likes getting cards. Ah, the great feeling of pain...

KIDDING! Seriously though, I'm just a little sore and achy from surgery today, but not really in pain. I'm trusting all the nurses and doctors when they say I will be fully functional tomorrow... We'll see.

In other news: All my kids are well! WooHoo! No more coughing like old smokers and gagging on phlem. My middle child, Ashton, tends to have a very touchy gag reflex. When he coughs too hard (or when phlem comes up) he gags and wants to throw up. NOT fun at all. Luckily, we are now all done with that.

I haven't been able to get crafty the last 2 days, but here are a couple cards I made for the Gina K. Designs release party on Splitcoaststampers on Monday (made them on Monday, party was on Sunday):

I'm not too crazy about the color combo on the first one. I pulled colors out of the Basic Grey Designer Paper but I chose the springy colors instead of the bolder colors. I should have gone the other way with it because it looks too "easter-ish" with the bunny. First thing my Mom said when she saw it was "But Easter's over." Oh well! I really wanted to combine the scripture with the bunny holding a candle, so this is what came about. I've had the idea since before I had the stamps. I like the idea, but next time I'll change up the colors...

This next one is one of my favorite color combos. I love browns and blues and this came together pretty easily since I had this great Designer Paper from My Mind's Eye. Although next time I'm going to try to cut off the back part of the button since it sticks too far out from the card.

Also, I've decided that I'm not going to go through the whole listing of materials and stuff on my blog for the cards. I want to get all my cards in my SCS gallery as well, so I'll list all the details in my gallery. I figure the majority of my readers prefer reading about my thoughts and life, not how I put a card together. And, those who do want to know how I put a card together, you must like papercrafting so sending you to see the details on my SCS gallery just gives you an excuse to check out an AMAZING website all about papercrafting! So, win-win situation for all!

Alrighty then, now I need to make sure I link up my SCS gallery on my sidebar.

It's been too long...

...Since I last posted! Sorry about that. Where does the time go? I attended a release party yesterday at SCS. It was for Gina K. Designs and it was a ton of fun!

This week is going to be a busy one for me. Today I'm going to try to get some stamping time in, then go grocery shopping. Tomorrow I've got an appointment with anesthesia and the boys have dentist appointments, then there's baseball practice for Andrew. Wednesday is Sign Dance Practice at church and I also have to watch what I eat and fast from midnight on because... Thursday I'm getting my tubes tied! Kinda nervous about that, but it's gotta be done. Anyone done this and have any advice/tips? Just don't give me too many horror stories. Ignorance is bliss sometimes, ya know? Andrew's also got baseball practice Thursday night (last one before his first game) but I think I'll have to miss that one. Maybe Mom will take him for me. Friday is recovery day for me, but also eye appointments for me and the boys. And then the weekend will finally be here! Hooray! Saturday is Andrew's first baseball game and I'm going to try to schedule picture taking for the weekend as well. Phew! I'm exhausted just thinking about this week, and it's barely started! Here are a couple cards I made last week using the scriptures from the Light of the World stamp set again.

I used Basic Grey's two scoops heart flourish stamps for the background behind the scriptures and on some of the cardstock. I used SU! whisper white and river rock cardstock, Playshop Paper brown card stock, kraft and beige cardstock from paperbilities, and the dp is from My Mind's Eye. There is also some Making memories brads on one and american craft ribbon on another.

I really wanted the scriptures to be the center of attention on these cards, that's why I used subtle colors and didn't use a focal image.
