Cosmo Cricket Goodness

I recently received a bunch of Comso Cricket goodies. Here are some things I made using the Jack's World Collection: I used the Jack's World blackboard and covered them with the matching Jack's world stickers to make the house, tree, crocodile, doll and car. I stuck some magnets on the back. The big, long magnet at the top of teh picture is a paper strip with magnet on the back, and the Friends magnet is one of those free magnets you get (from realtors, doctor offices, etc.) that I just covered with paper and the friends sticker. I decorated it with a button too. Angel LOVES playing with these! I also made these boxes that you may have seen on my desk in a previous post:

These are my Cute Cosmo Cricket Boxes. I copied a tutorial by Sankari. You can find it HERE. I used all JAck's World papers, blackboard, stickers and ribbon. Here's a sideview:

As I said in my Craft Room Tour post, I usually keep my italian gummies in these boxes and Angel is always asking for some.

My Box and My Wrangler

Happy Thursday Friends! I can't believe that this month is almost over. That will mean less than 2 months before school starts, whew wee!!! Did any of you check out my previous post and buy the digital image of the Weiman Wranglers? I hope so! But before I talk more about that, here's that box I promised to show you: My box is on the left. I had this Pretzel box and I've been using it for all the kids' snacks. I just throw all the snacks (raisin boxes, rollups, granola bars) in the box so when the kids ask for a snack, they get to choose ONE out of the BOX. And they know just what they can have instead of asking me, "Mom, can I have an apple?" "Mom, can I have a peanut butter and jelly sandwich?" "Mom, can I have this CANDY???" "Mom, can I have all of it?????" LOL! So, anyway, I originally brought this box up to my craft room to cover in wrapping paper to make it look nicer. Then I saw a challenge on Papercraft Planet from Diana Gibbs on the 3d challenge page to use a box that you have around the house as inspiration to make your own box. OK! I took the pretzel box apart (it folds into itself and can be unfolded without damage-cool!) and measured it. I then divided the measurements into a third, and made my box! I did goof a little and had to use glue to hold my box closed, but that's ok. Here's a pic of two sides of the box:

I decided that my box needed a few different characters to adorn it, so I used 4 different stamps from The Greeting Farm and decorated the box! I got that idea because Marie over on the TGF blog issued us a challenge to use 3 or more different stamps in one project. PERFECT! I stamped and colored the Panda with the wagon from Panda Friends then cut it out and glued it on the box with a pop-dot. Also, I stamped and colored the bunny riding the turtle from Down by the Pond. Here's a closeup of that:

The flower is from Panda Friends as well. I used colored pencils and OMS to color all the images. Here's a pic of the inside of the box and the third decorated side:

The mushroom bunch is from Wonderland. The papers are all from TGF's Sunny Glen paper pack. I really love my box and I use it to hold my glue dots on my desk.

So, back to the Weiman Wranglers; As I type this, Pink Cat Studio has raised over $1300 for the Make a Wish Foundation!!! WOW!!! There are some big hearts out there in the stamping world and I am so honored to be a part of it all. After I purchased the digital stamps, I printed them out and made this:

As I was coloring Wrangler Ava (or Lily-or whoever you want her to be) I ended up changing her clothes' colors! I didn't realize that when I changed her pink shirt to red, and her blue pants to green, that she was going to turn out Christmasy looking! But I ended up using the Mr. Campy paper from Cosmo cricket and all the colors ended up working out just fine. I used the sketch from 2 Sketches 4 U and just changed it up a little. I have three ribbons coming from the side, and the sketch is flipped, and the main image is on a long panel, not the circle... but it works for me! LOL!

The Weiman Wranglers!

Hey Everyone! I know I said I was going to post about the box I made, but I read about this and decided that the box can wait another day, this is more important. Pink Cat Studio along with a bunch of designers have gotten together to raise money for the Make a Wish Foundation in honor of Ethan Weiman and his family. Here's there story as written on Pink Cat Studio's Main Page.
On August 5, 2004, Ethan Weiman was welcomed into this world, and into the loving arms of his parents, Dave and Alicia Weiman.
"On June 12, 2009 Ethan's little life left those same loving arms, as he was welcomed into the loving arms of God in Heaven. In his mother's words " Heaven gained the greatest little boy ever".
Ethan was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma in July of 2007. He was a brave, and tough little cowboy! Ethan loved Knock Knock jokes, balloons, and of course, being the true cowboy that he was - horses! His younger sister, Ava just adored her big, brave brother.We've designed the Weiman Wranglers digital stamps to honor the life of Ethan Weiman and raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The Cowboy Ethan and Cowgirl Ava digital stamps can be purchased separately for $4.00 each or combined for $6.00."

Craft Room Tour

Hi All! My friend Joni is just like me and loves to see other people's crafting spaces. So she asked for us to post a picture on our blogs or galleries to share with eachother. Well, I decided to try to do a short video and I FAILED! LOL! The video wouldn't load onto the blog here; I think it's too long. I re-shot it about 3 times, and got it under 1minute, but it still wouldn't work. So I took pictures instead (you should be able to click on the pictures to see them super close). I hope you like them and bear with me to the end cuz there are a few... First up, here's my whole craft corner:

I share this room with my husband and his guitar hobby, hence the black sound-proofing foam you see on the walls! To the right of my desk I store my 8.5 x 11 papers, some embellishments and my TGF stamps on the white shelves. Here's a close-up:
To the left of my desk is my bookcase and another little white storage unit. I keep my stamps and inks on the bookcase. At the top of the bookcase are some finished projects and on the bottom are some albums and my big shot. I keep my 12x12 papers on the white storage unit, and on the snack holder I rescued from being thrown away! Oh, and my little purple Pixie sewing machine is there too. Can you see that ugly beige thing on the floor? That's my transformer so I can plug in my heat tool and lamp since they are 110Volt, and the outlets here are 220v.

And so you don't think my desk is ALWAYS a mess, here's a picture of it right after I finished up the project I was working on:

Oh yeah, Angel was begging for some candy because she knows that I keep my Italian Gummy candies in the little boxes on my desk. Here's a pic of the right corner of my desk where I keep my coloring supplies. They MUST be at hand since I use them all the time!
And here's the left side of my desk. I keep notes and papers and my paper cutter in the little file organizer thingy all the way to the right, my glue dots are in the little box I just made (the project I was working on! I think I'll post it tomorrow) and next to that is my little 6-box dresser looking box thingy (the one I keep my candies in). Oh, and I have to have the tiny clock on my desk or I totally loose track of time while crafting! LOL!

So that was only my part of the room. The rest of the room has David's desk and guitar stuff in it. Want to see? I know some of the family may, but if no one asks, I won't post it all!

On another note, I had a GREAT mail day today and I have tons of NEW goodies to play with! I not only got my Stampin' Up! order with some retired, and some BRAND NEW stuffs, but I also got my Pampered Chef order so I have some cool new tools that I used to make dinner tonight! I couldn't wait to press my garlic and chop my onions! LOL! And I got my copy of the NEW Stampin' Up! Catalog! Good Golly Miss Molly there is some fantastic stuff in there! To be completely honest, I didn't see a ton of stuff in the sneak peak we got as demonostrator's that made me super excited, but now that I have the whole catalog, I love it! Woohoo! Well, I hope you all enjoyed my photos, and my blabber if you actually read it.

Happy Saturday all! Tomorrow is Father's Day, are you ready??? I am, but only because David told me what he wanted, and then had me order it for him... I did make him a card also and he'll get that tomorrow with breakfast in bed. Well, I haven't heard from many of you lately, but I did notice that my hit counter is going up... so, since I'm so close to 10,000 hits I'm getting ready for a blog candy! I'll be gathering some goodies and when I hit 10,000 visitors I'll have a blog candy!

I bought the wonderful Build-a-Fariytale diecuts from Stampin Up a while ago with the intention of making something for Angel's room. Well, once I found out they were getting retired... and when my neighbor (well, ex-neighbor; hope Vegas isn't too hot for you Jessica!) gave me this adorable toybox for Angel, I knew I needed to get on the ball and make this! I decoupaged all the paper pieces after I messed around for awhile and had them where I wanted them. I think I put about 5 layers of decoupage on this just to make sure it would stay put once Angel got ahold of it! Speaking of Angel, here she is enjoying her new toy box:

I put her on the toy box to take her picture, but she wanted to read to me, her daddy, and her pony! She loves this toy box.

Finally Friday!

Good morning Starshine! The Earth says Hello! LOL! Ok, that's one of my favorite lines from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (the new one with Johnny Depp) and we re-watched it recently so it's on my mind. For today I wanted to show you the other two cards that I made for my TGF Design Team application. Here's a close up of Fairy Chloe and the coloring I tried on her hair. Traci gave us a wonderful tutorial on the Club Anya blog on how to color black hair and since I don't have all the markers for the black hair, I decided to give it a try with yellow. It came out ok but Traci suggested I blend the darkest and middle colors a little more where they touch and I totally agree. I may go back today and give that another go. Here's the card in it's entirety:

I used some really fun Prima flowers for the embellishments. I bought them especially for this card since I already had Chloe colored and I knew I needed some bright embellishments. Oh, and the sentiment is two different stamps from two different stamp sets from TGF that I put together and doodled around. Here's the final card that I made for the TGF DT application:

I love love LOVE the way this froggy card came out! I plan on making a few more so I can send them to people and keep the original for myself. It was so quick... almost kismet! The ribbon had been WAITING to be used and that paper was SCREAMING to be cut into! I just need to get a new Signo White Gel pen (since mine is empty!-NOOOOOO!!!!) so I can make the necessary dots around the scalloped circle... Oh no, I just realized that this circle was a die cut from my old stash of SU! diecuts and it's been retired! CRAP! I need to either order some more if they still have them or get an actual die to cut out my own.. what to do???? Oh, wait... I just checked my catalog and this set of diecuts wasn't retired, the other color set was. Whew! Crisis averted! Ok, enough of my crazy babbling. That's all for this Fantastic Friday. Baseball Season is Over

Happy Wednesday! Baseball season ended for the boys about a week ago and I made a card for Andrew for doing so great and sticking it through to the end. Most seasons he gets burnt out and starts complaining about halfway through. This season he made it almost to the end before complaining! lol! Honestly, this season got to me too. There was so much confusion and disorganization... but that's a whole, depressing post itself so Never Mind! Here's a pic of my Mets player in action: And here's a pic of him on a card:

LOL! This is batter Ian all gussied up to look like Andrew in Uniform. I had a little bit of a tough time getting this ball to look "real" and in the end it turned out kinda bright, but I like it. I hand stitched around the edge of the orange card stock because Iwas too lazy to make a white threaded bobbin for my machine. Here's a closeup of Andrew (Ian) and the stitching:

Truth be told, I haven't given this card to Andrew! ;p I made the card with him in mind, but I used it as one of my application cards for the TGF design team call. Since then, I've had it displayed and just put it away. I think I'll give it to him when he gets his medal from the Youth Program (another issue I won't get into!).

SOA ended well!

Hey there friends! During the Stamp Out Alzheimer's event, I hosted a challenge called "Not A Card Button Challenge." The Challenge was to create something that was NOT a card and to use Buttons. I created this framed art: I used a lot of my favorite buttons on this project. First I drew the heart and wrote the scripture all around the edges of the paper and next to the heart then I sponged the white ink. Oh btw, the rest of the scripture was covered up by the frame, but I know it's there! In real life the contrast between the white ink and the kraft cardstock is NOT this harsh. Here it looks like a definite line between the two, but there isn't really. Next I picked a bunch of buttons, a few pearls and two heart brads to fill in the heart.

I had to play around with the buttons to distribute the colors and make them all fit but it was a fun, rewarding and relaxing time just playing with pretty buttons. Here is a close up of part of the scripture:

I have this frame displayed in our entertainment center. It's in a spot that isn't too obvious, but I know it's there and it's kinda comforting in a wierd way.

The Stamp Out Alzheimer's event ended with over to $6,500 raised!!! To think that this event started last year with just Jen Tapler posting some challenges on her blog and sending out prizes all on her own with a handful of participants, to this event that was a HUGEMONGOUS success!!! Wow, I can't wait to see what happens next year!

One Layer Only

Hello on this sunny Sunday! The weather is improving (for now) and the kids are officially on summer break. My posts may get a little sporadic (aren't they already?) but I'll try my best to post every other day or so. Well, Marie from The Greeting Farm has issued us another FUN challenge! The challenge is to create a ONE LAYER ONLY card. So, I made three! I actually have an idea for a fourth card, but I'm not sure if I'll get a chance to complete it. So, here is my first one layer card which I call "Falling Down the Rabbit Hole": Well, I tried to make it look like Alice, the Hatter, The White (pink) Rabbit and the tea cups were falling down a hole. I'm not so great with sponging the depth of a dark hole. But I tried! I stamped all the images and then colored them with my Copics. Then I masked them all and sponged with three different brown inks. I love the coloring on Alice. I asked a 5 year old (Hi Kylie!) what colors to use and pink (although it ended up red) and purple were her choices. So that's what I did and I love the turnout. Here is another one layer card:

This little 3x3 card gave me issues! I wanted to embelish the card, but everything I had was too big so I ended up making the flowers with my tiniest buttons and the trio flower punch from Stampin' Up. Also, I wanted to give a background to the froggy but my coloring didn't work out as planned. THEN, I added green souffle pen to the frog and sentiment and ended up covering his outline! UGH! I went back over the outline with my black Zig pen as you can see. I think the card turned out ok in the end though. Oh, and the sentiment is from Just So Hoppy from Gina K. Designs. And here is my fish in a toilet bowl:

LOL! Not really! I wanted my fishy to be in a FISH bowl, but when Andrew saw it he said "it look like a toilet bowl." LOL! Oh well, I tried. I sponged the blue around the fishy and added the gem bubbles. Then I did the inside too:

I guess it does look like a toilet with the varying blues and then you lift the lid and see the fish inside! Oh well! Well, I hope you liked the crds, even though they didn't come out exactly as I envisioned.

It Exploded!!!

So, Tuesday night I won a bottle of wine at the ACES (Aviano Community Enlisted Spouses) meeting and last night I decided to open it and have a glass. Well, look what happened! It exploded! It sounded like a gun went off and glass and wine went EVERYWHERE!!! Luckily I didn't get cut, but there were little shards of the bottle all over the kitchen; not to mention wine sprayed all over the walls! I know I wasn't pressing down too hard so I think something happened during the bottling of the wine causing a weak spot in the bottle. I don't know, but it was crazy! Anyway, I needed to make some birthday cards for some ACES members, and here's my first one:

This one is for a lady who's birthday was last month. I paper pieced the hippo and the balloons and drew the strings for the balloons to be tied to the hippo's tail. Here's a pic to show you the dimension in my paper piecing:

Well, after I left the card on the desk for a little while, I went back and it didn't look done. Do you ever do that? Walk away from a project and come back later for a fresher perspective? I ended up making a frame by just drawing straight lines around the edge of the card:

I feel like it gives the card it's finishing touch.

Last Thursday I participated in my first Twisted Thursday Challenge and guess what? I won! Yeah, it was a random draw, but still!!! I participated again this week and here is the card I made:I admit it, it's not my best work. I'm not entirely happy with it, but this is as good as this card is going to get. I followed the sketch, only I turned it on its side. The Twist this week is to have some purple in the card, and purple is one of the hardest colors for the to incorporate. I actually made the hippo card AFTER this one, and that purple worked out just fine! Maybe my mojo was on a little break...

OOOOO!!!

Yup, that's what Angel was saying to me in this picture! I just felt like starting off this post with a silly picture! (that's a scratch on her nose in case you were wondering;p) So, today is the last FULL day of school for the boys and then tomorrow they just have half a day. Then it will officially be SUMMER BREAK! YEA!!! We are all so worn out from waking up early, rushing through the mornings, worrying about getting dinner done on time so the boys can bathe and go to bed on time. It's been exhausting these last few weeks! Andrew has actually been asking me to homeschool him so I told him I'd look into it and we'd do a "trial run" over the summer. I highly doubt we will ever go to homeschooling for him, mainly because he just wants to do it so he can sleep in and stay up later. Regardless, it won't hurt to have the kids on some sort of schedule over the summer, and the extra education will just help them out for next school year also. So, along with the end of the school year comes Graduation. No one I personally know is graduating, but I am the Committee Chair for the Spouses Club's Scholarship Committee so I had the honor of giving two scholarships to two deserving high school graduates. Since I had never done this before (and I was very short of time) I felt I needed to make something to put their checks into. Here is the inside of the card I made:

I used the Stampin' Up slit punch to hold the check in the card and just wrote a short note above it. Here is the outside of the card:

I used the graduate cap from Kim Hughes' stamp set called U R A Hoot and the sentiment from Melanie Muenchinger's stamp set called Hand-in-hand. I stamped them in black on a plain white card and topped it all off with a black sheer ribbon. I don't know the school colors, or I would have went with that color combo. I think the cards came out nice and they served their purpose, so all went well.

AH, Monday!

I'm so glad it's the last week of school! Andrew should be enjoying his "Field Day" at schooltoday, and then Thursday is their last day and a half day! We've already been in the mood for summertime activities and this weekend we went outside as much as possible (when the weather was cooperating). For your enjoyment, pics of my kiddos enjoying the outdoors: That was Ashton looking through a toy and being silly. He was enjoying the sidewalk chalks that my Mom sent to the kids. And here is Angel after playing with some PINK sidewalk chalk:

See all the chalk on the back of her dress and on her white tights? LOL! At least she had fun. Also, we were supposed to have the boys' final baseball games on Saturday, but the weather was too rainy, wet, and there was lightning, so all games were canceled. Instead, we just had Andrew's end-of-season party at the community center. Here he is getting his trophy:

He did so great this season and I can't wait to see him improve next year! Finally, I got to participate in the Twisted Thursday Challenge with Justine and the ladies from Shirley's 2 Girls. The challenge was to use the provided sketch (which I altered just a bit) and the twist was to use paper piecing! I paper pieced the dress and hat for Princess Winifred from the Doodlefactory stamps at Starving Artistamps. I've been wantig to participate in this challenge for weeks now and I finally did, and on time too!

Nuts About You!

Hey there friends! Just a quick post tonight since I'm pretty sleepy and I can't seem to catch up on my sleep so I'm going to make this short. I finally participated in a 2 Sketches 4 You challenge! I have been following 2 Sketches 4 You for awhile now, but I haven't actually participated in any of their challenges. They are currently having their 1st Annual Ultimate Card Showdown and I decided that it's about time I use their fabulous sketches to make some cards. Here is the card I made for this week's challenge: I was experimenting with my coloring and I actually like the way it turned out. I stamped the image of the acorn and adorable squirrels with Chocolate Chip classic ink from Stampin' Up and then colored with watercolor pencils and OMS. The ink didn't smear (surprise surprise!!!) and the blending/highlighting actually worked out! I am definitely going to be trying this some more and experiementing with more coloring techniques.
On another subject, I want to let you all know about a little miracle named Tyler. Tyler is the son of my friends, Krystal and Ben. Tyler was diagnosed with Retinoblastoma (cancer of the eye) last April, went through treatment (which included removal of his eye) and has been cancer free since May 1st, 2008. I wanted to let you all know about this brave little man (he's only 2! or is he 3 already? Krystal???) because his brave Momma has a Relay For Life page and is tryign t raise money to help find a cure for cancer. You can read about their story HERE and if you want, donate too!

Wednesday, Hump Day.

Thank goodness the week is almost over. Then we'll only have one more week of school and it will be summer vacation! I'm actually looking forward to summer this year. I know the kids will get bored, but I have plans to fend off the boredom as long as possible! We'll be getting a trampoline soon, and I'm looking for a kiddie pool, and maybe a slip n slide will come along as well! We'll see... Until then, I'm loving all the new flora popping up around here. I was at the commissary the other day and I saw this: Isn't it gorgeous? I'm going to plant it in our little garden outside. And because I was thinking about all the summery cards I wanted to make for the TGF DT call, the sunflower inspired this card:

I used Hello Ian and colored him with watercolor pencils. I punched out a bunch of yellow hearts with my big heart punch from Stampin' Up! and then sponged them with various yellow/orange/brown inks. I also cut out a circle with my circle cutter and added dots in it to look like seeds. This is a big card, because that flower ended up so big! I think it's 5.5 x 5.5. And here is a pic of the inspiration and card together:

I'll be selecting my winner for my challenge as soon as I get my kiddos into bed. heehee. I need quiet to figure out the Random Number Integrator-Integantion-Integration- WHATEVER thingy! See, I was just pulled away because of the kids... They need to go to bed! lol!

Finally, I want to show you some cool little baskets I made: As some of you read in a previous post, I tried out for The Greeting Farm's Summer Design Team. Marie (the owner of TGF) asked us to use the summery colors of Yellow and Orange. I did not make the design team this time, but I'm going to be trying again in the Fall! Here is an upclose shot of the owl basket:
This basket was not yellow or orange, but I needed three baskets, and red went well with this DP that I wanted to use, so the basket ended up red. I made three baskets because I'm going to use them for end of the year teacher gifts. Here is an upclose of the yellow fish basket:

I colored all the images with my copic markers. Oh, and the baskets were made by copying a tutorial from Denise. You can check it out HERE. Here is an upclose of the Deer Basket:

I had a wonderful time making these and even showed my new neighbor friend, Jessica how to make them. I am going to be making a few more to keep for myself. I think I'll keep my mono multipurpose glues in them since they are just floating in my top drawer right now. That way I can have them nicely displayed on my desk!
